There are various ways that alcohol consumption can affect our health. After 1 or 2 drinks you may feel more relaxed and more chatty as the alcohol gets into the brain and affects your thinking.
Alcohol consumption causes your heart rate to quicken and you may experience a warm glow. This is caused by alcohol making small Veins in the skin widen, allowing blood to flow closer to the surface and lowers blood pressure.

Effects of Alcohol on Health

Alcohol consumption health risks include anxiety, impaired judgment leading to accidents and injuries, loss of consciousness, slowed breathing and heartbeat, suffocation through choking on your own vomit and potentially fatal alcohol poisoning.

Drinking alcohol increases your calorie intake. In a medium-sized (175ml) glass of wine there are 125 calories and in a bottle there are over 500 calories!

The morning after

Aclohol misuse can cause you to have a hangover the next day. You may feel sickness, nausea stomach ache, and sometimes diarrhea, Alcohol also has a dehydrating effect. Aclohol misuse can also make you feel sad and guilty.

If you drink over the guidline daily amounts regularly you are putting your health at risk. Consuming alcohol in large quantities increases blood pressure.

Aclohol consumption is regularly correlated with mental health problems. A recent British survey found that people suffering from anxiety and depression were twice as likely to be problem drinkers.

Large quantities of drinking could sometimes cause ‘psychosis’, a bad mental illness where they develop delusions of persecution. Heavy drinking can lead to seclusion and unhappiness.
